News

CMT2026

Every year begins with what is probably Germany's largest tourism trade fair. This year, the Northern Black Forest region, together with its partners, presented itself at a stand in Hall 6.

For several years now, the northern Black Forest region has been organizing itself here together with the cities of Pforzheim and Karlsruhe at the stand.

Here we have compiled some press articles:

What are the best prices to start with for the new holiday year?

How do I calculate these?

A topic we all know: fair and consistent pricing . Many hosts think: "I'll do that later..." or "It'll be fine..." – and in the end, they don't get what they could have.

Here's some inspiration from UrlaubsNest for you!

Franziska Bürkle Teinachtal

Franziska Bürkle, tourism director of Bad Teinach-ZavelsteinShe passed away far too soon, shortly before her 44th birthday. She leaves a void that is felt far beyond the Teinach Valley. With energy, heart, and conviction, she implemented numerous ideas for the Black Forest and left a lasting mark on the region.

Franziska Bürkle fought until the very end, but she could not win. Her death is a painful loss for family, friends, colleagues, and the entire tourism industry of the Black Forest. Yet her legacy lives on – in every step hikers take on her trails and in every idea that is passed on. Her vision, her dedication, and her unwavering love for the Black Forest will long be felt in the region and will continue to inspire those who follow her path.

Strategy - The future of the Northern Black Forest

"We are a pioneering initiator of a valuable living space that consciously creates benefits."

We therefore actively monitor:
Is what we are doing forward-looking?
Does our behavior contribute to a valuable habitat?
Are we creating benefits for nature, citizens, guests, or partners?

Our objective:

We place great importance on ensuring that tourism offerings and projects align with our brand and the region. Integration into the existing, well-developed infrastructure, while respecting our natural resources, is essential.

New experiential projects should not stand alone, but should be integrated into the overall concept of the region.
to increase the average length of stay, keep ancillary and related expenses in the region, and thus also strengthen the upstream investment for tourist consumption. For us, this means... Increasing tourism value creation with an increase in the quality of the service and not necessarily with an excessive increase in visitor numbers.

We need a mission

How can we position ourselves in the market in the future?

The Northern Black Forest as a "Quality Region Hiking Germany"

Quality region in generalThe Northern Black Forest, with its extensive Forest areas and the meadow-rich Heckengäu A paradise for nature lovers and hikers. The approximately 1500km of marked hiking trails The Black Forest Association connects these natural areas and forms the basis for the creation of the Hiking region "Northern Black Forest."

On the way to becoming a quality region “Wanderbares Deutschland” (Hiking in Germany), we had to meet 43 criteria from 5 key areas (hosts, infrastructure, organization, tourist information, forestry) specified by the German Hiking Association .

The Black Forest Association (Schwarzwaldverein e.V.) is also a strong hiking partner for us . With its commitment to the trails, hiking, the preservation of the cultural landscape, nature conservation, and the safeguarding of tradition, it is indispensable not only for us and our guests but also for the people who live here.

In January 2024, we were officially awarded the title of "Quality Region Hiking Germany" at the CMT trade fair in Stuttgart . This makes us the second region in Baden-Württemberg and the eighth in Germany to receive this special distinction!

For over five years, Vanessa Lotz-Kijak, as project manager, with the active support of Karoline Kohl and Ancia Kirr, paved the way for this in the region. They spoke with many stakeholders, organized meetings, analyzed and hiked routes, checked signage, and much more.
