The Northern Black Forest is part of one of Germany's most popular holiday destinations – the Black Forest itself. Stretching between Stuttgart, Pforzheim, and Karlsruhe, it is part of Germany's third-largest nature park and boasts the most densely forested region in Baden-Württemberg . The diverse landscape, encompassing protected forests, moors, gorges, and the Heckengäu region, is as varied as it is captivating. Nature enthusiasts can explore the region's natural beauty on the numerous cycling and hiking trails and enjoy panoramic views across the vast expanse of forest from various vantage points .

Traditions such as the Shepherds' Run , the rafting culture , and the historic half-timbered houses , as well as the monasteries , attract culture enthusiasts to the Northern Black Forest. Wellness and relaxation are also on offer; one can wonderfully unwind in one of the Northern Black Forest's five thermal baths , and the invigorating climate invites you to breathe deeply. In the Northern Black Forest's manufactories, visitors will find handmade specialties ranging from pasta , coffee, and schnapps to marzipan and chocolate.

25 Years of the German Timber-Frame Road: Timber-frame stories from the Northern Black Forest

In August 2026, the Baden-Württemberg regional section of the German Timber-Frame Road will celebrate its 25th anniversary. Four towns from the Northern Black Forest will also be participating: Calw, Neubulach and Altensteig.
