Lower Mill

Significance for the "Living with Water" tour:

Near the Stammheim district, in the Schleiftal valley, stands the former grain mill "Untere Mühle" (Lower Mill), dating from 1843, which operated from the mid-19th century until 1957. Powered by the largest wooden overshot waterwheel in Europe, with a diameter of 11,50 meters, it has become a cultural monument. The waterwheel was renovated in 1998 and now serves to generate electricity.
