Black Forest cake
A cherry cake? No, a Black Forest cherry cake ! Like the Bollenhut hat—which it at least visually resembles—it represents the Black Forest worldwide. Its origins are not entirely clear. Some historians suspect a master confectioner named Hildenbrand from Tübingen as its inventor, dating back to around 1930.
To understand this, one must know that in earlier times Tübingen belonged to the so-called "Black Forest District" —which nowadays would be considered part of the Northern Black Forest. So we can rightfully claim that Black Forest cherry cake has its home here with us. Or can we not?
Even if that's not entirely true, which we know for sure: we have the best of their kind here. With plenty of cream . And no less cherry brandy . And a decent-sized piece, just like we like it around here. Because you can worry about your figure again tomorrow. Or the day after.
Should a slice of Black Forest cherry cake prove a bit too rich for you – no problem. Here in the region you'll find a wide variety of oven-baked delicacies , from traditional recipes to brand new, modern creations.
In baking classes you will become a master yourself.
